For centuries, operas, ballets, concerts and theatre productions have been based in the internationally renowned establishments of the state capital of Munich.

The Bavarian State Opera is one of the most renowned opera houses in the world and can look back over a long history and tradition.

Together with the Bavarian State Ballet, almost 350 opera and ballet productions take place each year in the National Theatre, in the Prinzregententheater and the Altes Residenztheater (Cuvilliés-Theater).

In the building complex of the Gasteig Cultural Centre, you will find, among other things, the concert hall of the Munich Philharmonic. The Munich Philharmonic, an orchestra considered to be internationally significant, is made up of professional musicians and is managed as a state-owned enterprise integrated into the city’s administration.

The Deutsches Theater in Munich offers a wide range of entertainment art with musicals, dance, shows, operettas and concerts by national and international artists. With about 1,500 seats and 300 shows a year, it is the second largest theatre in Munich and the largest host theatre with full stage in Germany.
