Not far from Aying, countless lakes invite you to take a swim and relax. As well as the well-known lakes such as the Chiemsee and Tegernsee, the small lakes in the area surrounding Munich are also worth a trip.

We have complied a small selection of them here for you.

KASTENSEEONER SEE

The Kastenseeoner See is just 10 minutes from Aying and has a surface of about 7 hectares. At its deepest point, the lake is 4 meters deep. For years, the water quality of the lake has been classed as “outstanding”.

STEINSEE

15 minutes from Aying is the 21 hectare Steinsee. It is about 11 meters deep and the largest swimming lake in the region.

The Steinsee, one of the warmest lakes in Germany, is in a forest area and is supplied by pure spring water. The bathing beach has sunbathing lawns with large trees and a children’s playground.

NATURBADESEE SCHLIERSEE

The outstanding water quality of the Schliersee and the Alpine panorama invite you to take a dip. On the western banks of the lake, you can sunbathe on either gravel or meadows, while the park lido on the eastern shore offers lots of space and quiet corners to relax with an area of 12,000 square meters.

The park lido is perfect for families with its playground, slide and separate non-swimmers’ area.

CHIEMSEE

The “Bayerisches Meer”, 45 minutes from Aying, is the largest lake in Bavaria and the third largest lake in Germany.

Embedded in the charming landscape of Chiemgau, the Chiemsee is one of the most popular recreational areas in Bavaria. Its immediate proximity to the Chiemgau Mountains means you can bathe and sail as well as discover the region on beautiful walks and hikes.
